Sunday League Review - 17th June 2012

Division 1

The top of division 1 provides us with the first incorrect scoreline of the evening, but no change to the standings as a result of it....... Chuckles and FC Manchester remain split by a narrow goal difference after both picked up narrow wins, Chuckles beat 23rd Striker 9-5, while FCM beat Waitrose Ch in a cracking game, 5-2 (not 10-5 as listed on the league table). Milanchester Reborn recovered from back to back defeats to pick up a second win to sit third, as they denied Moaning Murtles their first points of the season with a 7-6 victory.

Division 2

Ahhhh, poor ol' division 2........ Despite the return of SGM, meaning only one space currently in this division, there was still just the one game played this week. The surprise second placed team Leave It Yeah suffered a defeat that surprised even their opposition, Morning Glory, who have forgotten what it's like to win recently. The game finished 10-8, with Morning Glory moving into third place.

Division 3

Substandard Liege remain top of division 3, despite going down to their first defeat of the season, losing 12-7 to Newfound FC, who go second, three points behind the leaders. It will come as no surprise to most that Britannia Farnworth have won both of their games since joining the league, and they made it a fourth straight defeat for Inter Your Sister with a 12-3 victory. Team Tom are second from bottom, but they are level on points with second placed Newfound in a very tight mid-section of this division after they overcame The Veterans 7-6.

Division 4

HD FC are the outright leaders in division 4 thanks to the combination of their 14-7 win over Why Always Us? and The Dancing Whos first defeat of the season, 17-16 to Can't Score For Crap in the only two games played this week.

Division 5

Jager Roids also enjoy a three point advantage at the top of division 5 after they comfortably saw off The Bee Gees 20-3 this week. It's always satisfying for us when a couple of new teams join a league and it turns out they are at roughly the same level, and the quite new Sporting Abeergut used their extra weeks experience to see off the completely new Nut United 7-6 to sit second.

Division 6

FC Token Fat Guy are well on their way to a higher level of football, having picked up a fifth win in only the fourth week of the season (impressive!). They were made to work for a 12-7 victory over Marc Poole this week in probably their toughest game so far. Four In Hand were involved in the other two games played in this division this week, with them going second thanks to a 6-4 win over Hetty, but staying only a point clear as they lost the second game 4-3 to European FC (who had a better weekend than their national team.........).

Division 7

A good night for Withington FC, as they go six points clear in division 7 and made it four wins out of four after a 14-12 win over Sligo FC. Sligo went into the night unbeaten, but they've now lost two as they were also beaten 11-6 by Minstrils, who move into second place. Asleep At The Back joined Minstrils on six points after they sneaked to a 5-3 victory over Kinky Slipper.

Division 8

Two very similar scorelines in the two games played in division 8, both won by the teams currently occupying the top two positions. FC 5ome maintained their 100% record after they beat SK Dons 19-6, and stay three points clear of New Edgeley who were 19-7 winners over Reds FC, who had actually started the night as league leaders, but drop to third.

Division 9

Into the basement and Range FC have a three point advantage over the chasing pack, as they surprised Sports Weeks who had swept all before them in their first two weeks in the league with a 7-4 win to make it four wins out of four. Ivory Toast are second after they picked up an 8-3 win over Offerton FC, with Buzzin winning the battle of the bottom two as they saw off Inter Minan 18-4 to pick up their first points of the campaign.

A pretty decent night, all things considered with it being Fathers Day and all. Just the three spaces to be had, in divisions 2, 7 and 8, so plenty of variety of standards for new or returning teams. At the time of writing, these Sunday spaces are the ONLY vacancies we currently have in ANY of our leagues, so get in touch!
