STOCKPORT: WEDNESDAY LEAGUE REVIEW

A whole host of rearranged games scheduled in last night due to a clear night (local fixture-wise), means most things are now up to date with the Wednesday league, and gives us the chance to pull games FORWARD from the next Champions League night which coincides with the last game of the Wednesday season, on 7th December - get your double headers booked in next week if you want that night off!

FC Fodder have wrapped up the division 1 title with two games to spare after a pair of wins last night. They enjoyed a 14-0 stroll against Not A Chance, who are now all but relegated, and a tighter 8-6 win over Mrs Pickfords, who are struggling to survive after winning the league last season! ABCDE FC are now in pole position for the runners up spot after winning their shoot out with Dooling Diamonds 7-6.

Cheadle had already wrapped up the division 2 title, and had already played last nights fixture previously (they are apparently very much looking forward to the next presentation evening!). Gamma Express are now favourites to join them in division 1 after they beat Outwood 18-12 in the only game of the night in this division.

Dynamo are on the up and picked up a forfeit win last night. Sammys Midget Gems have taken second place from Doobie FC after they beat Millwall Away in a low scoring encounter, 3-1, while Doobie were losing 6-5 to Ashton Athletic, who keep themselves in with a chance of survival.

Bare Arsealona and Wigan Abbey Avenue are both on the way up from division 4, with the winners and runners up spots still to be decided. They both won again last night with Bare Arsealona seeing off The Wasters 12-5 and Wigan Abbey winning 16-5 over Range FC. Any of the teams outside of the top two could still go down, but Silver Birch did themselves a power of good with an 8-3 win over Ping It, who now sit in one of the relegation places.

Everything is still up for grabs in division 5, with any of the top 4 still in a position to challenge for promotion, while the team in third is still technically not yet safe. The Ringers and Team Reem are level on 18 points, with The Ringers taking over the top spot on goal difference after they beat Team Sky 12-2 and Team Barry 7-4, while Team Reem were losing 8-6 to Stockport Boys.

The top two in division 6 are locked together on both points and goal difference after last nights results. Stockport Deaf Club have the advantage on goals scored after they beat Kevin Mallen (team name?) 13-10, while Team Mikey beat Hunter Douglas 10-4. Team Mikey do still have an all important game in hand in the race for the title.

There are still vacancies available in the Wednesday league if you want to get signed up in time for the new season whcih starts on 14th December - if you're concerned about Christmas, don't be - after the first game of the season the second game will not be until the first week of 2012! ive us a call on 01614429988 or email stockport@powerleague.co.uk for details.
