STOCKPORT: THURSDAY LEAGUE REVIEW

Things are really getting tight and tense at the top of division 1 as we head into the final third of the season, with any one of four teams still in with a great chance of taking the title. The top two played off last night as Bredbury FC took on The Disciples, with Bredbury knowing a win could have taken them five points clear. In the end both teams had to settle for a point in a 7-7 draw. That result re-opened the door for The Loveable Geeks to move back into contention as they won a hard fought clash 11-9 against Sandys Superstars to leapfrog The Disciples into second place, three points off the top with two games in hand, one of them against the team the overtook last night. Portugal U21's sit four points off the top, themselves with a game in hand. At the bottom Weekend Wanderers picked up a priceless three points to pull themsleves out of the bottom two, beating Cilla Blackburn 13-9

CTL and TDL are still both on course to join the top flight next season after both picked up wins again last night. CTL beat Del Boy Allstars 15-9 while TDL were 13-6 winners over Bram Ale. It wasn't all bad for Bram Ale as they did pick up a 10-4 win over Real Adelphi on Tuesday. It WAS all bad for Real Adelphi as they lost both games this week after they were beaten 9-6 by Nameless Wonders last night. Nameless remain the closest challengers to the top two, but are still 9 points off second spot.

Only one game took place in division 3, after top of the table Unreal Madrid inexplicably pulled out of the league, despite their 9 point lead at the top. Fickle Fans SHOULD be going up as a 4-2 win over Return Of Inter Goats saw them move five points clear in second place.

Absolutely nothing to report in division 4, other than Zombie Facemask failing to show for a 10pm game without any notice - Brandan McUnited send their thanks for that.

Something Random all but have division 5 wrapped up as they picked up a forfeit win while second placed Team Rocket were losing 11-4 to Torpedo Grove. The only other game saw Ajax Trees Down scrape past Fat Kids Are Harder To Kidnap 7-6.

Inter Bread and Assou Army continue to set the pace in division 6, with both recroding and 8th win of the season last night. Inter Bread beat the almighty Smoon 16-10, while Assou Army beat Man Chest Hair Utd 13-3. Norfolk Enchants picked up a forfeit win to stay in touch with the leaders, while the only other game in the division ended in a 14-14 draw between Tom Bostock and Roberts Jackson.

We currently have one vacancy in every division on a Thursday, so plenty of variety of standards for any new teams wanting to get involved. Give us a call on 01614429988 or email stockport@powerleague.co.uk for more info.
