Well, winter arrived in a bit of a hurry last night, didn't it?! On a night when the weather conditions weren't exactly ideal, those who did play found the pitches turning a very festive shade of white at points in the evening.........
There were two games in division 1 last night, both involving Waitrose Ch as they battle for survival in this league. They were only able to pick up one point from a possible six though, after they lost 9-3 to runaway leaders FC Manchester and drew 9-9 with Team Tom, who stay second, 9 points behind the leaders.
23rd Striker's promotion is secured with a forfeit win last night, and they look more than likely to be joined by SK1 Famalam in the top flight after they moved 6 points clear of third placed Under Rated after beating them 13-9. Jamie Platt (1 Decent Player +4?!) had an unhappy start to life in the Sunday league as they were hammered 24-9 by Morning Glory, who pick up their first win.
Class A Squad are on the verge of being proclaimed Champions of division 3 after picking up an 8th straight win last night, beating Inter Losin 13-11. Inter Your Sister picked up a forfeit win to stay in pole position for the second promotion spot, with East Manchester Elite (formerly Dynamos) still in with a shout after they beat The Veterans 9-6.
Milanchester Reborn will have to wait another week to confirm their status as division 4 champions after they were held to a 9-9 draw by European FC, who celebrated this point in the bar with several cold pints of San Miguel. Leave My Arsealona had a much more comfortable night, inflicting a second heavy defeat on newcomers Inter Minan (we'll move you down as soon as we can) 31-5.
Grahams Giants and Athletico Pathetico are heading for a last day showdown to decide the division 5 title, as they are locked together on 21 points after the leaders lost for the first time this season. Four In Hand pulled off a shock 8-6 win over the Giants to keep alive their slim hopes of promotion. Athletico rejoined Grahams at the top after an 11-4 (or was it 17-8?!) win over Not Inter Your Sister, while Withington and Wafty Crankers were involved in a 31 goal thriller that Withington won 16-15 thanks to a last minute penalty.
Substandard Liege have division 6 all wrapped up (that's a Christmas reference for you!) with 24 points out of 24 available so far. They beat Deportivo Lack Of Talent 15-4. Offerton FC are back into second place after a 12-4 win over Buzzin FC. Range FC dropped back down to 4th as they were overtaken by Can't Score For Crap who beat them 19-10.
Norfolk And Chance only gave us money for beer last night as they picked up a 10-0 win over Anchor Men who couldn't field a team. Their promotion is not guaranteed just yet though, as Milanchester and HD FC both have a game in hand and sit 6 points behind them. The only game in this division last night saw Hetty FC have a comfortable 16-2 win over Pick It Lick It Roll It Flick It FC, who's total ambition for the season now is not to finish bottom.
