FC Manchester have all but wrapped up the Sunday division 1 title with three games to spare as they maintained their 100% record for the season with a comfortable 16-1 win over Team Tom. It was a bad night in what has been a bad season for Team Tom, as they also lost a second game 12-9 to Five United, who pulled themselves out of the relegation zone with two wins from two played, winning their first game 14-3 against 23rd Striker, who drop into the bottom two. Waitrose Ch stay second, but only on goal difference as they were beaten 14-8 by SK1 Famalam who join them on 12 points.
Into division 2, and the first comments received about last nights games from our Sunday players through Facebook! Moaning Martles remain top after a 10-7 win over Chuckles FC, one of whom found their opponents slightly disrespectful by expecting him to run around chasing shadows all night after having spent the previous night drinking alcohol (responsibly, no doubt), though he did claim to have scored the goal of the game / season (we're not naming names but you know who you are). Morning Glory recovered from last weeks defeat to stay hot on the heels of Martles with a convincing 17-9 victory over Inter Your Sister, while Under Rated again recovered from a poor start, having gone 3-0 down to Class A Squad, before picking up their first win in four games, coming back to win 6-4. They go third, but still sit 5 points behind the promotion places.
FC Stockport stay top of division 3 after winning a top of the table clash with Milanchester Reborn 9-3. Dynamos were back to full strength last night, and they stay level on points with Stockport after they comfortably saw off The Veterans 15-6.
There was only the one game played in division 4 last night, with The Bee Gees easing their relegation worries and moving to within 5 points of second place after beating Inter Losin 11-7. Inter Losin are looking highly likely to be dropping a level as they are now 6 points adrift in the relegation zone.
Substandard Liege took the time to tell us a bit about their game last night that saw them stay top of division 5 with a 17-5 win over Four In Hand. Apparently there were flicks and tricks galore, including two back heeled finishes from John Anderson and James Leeson, and a 'great volleyed goal by Richard Hirst from 20 yards,' though the question was asked as to whether he actually shinned it or not, only he will know! JLS stay second after they were 11-3 winners over European FC, and they stay level on points with Substandard, with Can't Score For Crap just one point behind those two after a thumping 19-4 win over B Block in what has become a division of two halves.
Milanchester also sent us a bit of a write up for their top of the table clash with Norfolk And Chance, which finished with them sneaking a 7-6 win in a great game in which both goalkeepers excelled. Apparently (these are Steve's words......) Mike Sutherland was not fir for the game and ran around wheezing like an old man, even though he did score, which is unusual, Gilly fired in a pile driver from his own half, and Kev Fitzgerald couldn't hit a barn door. Lovely. Explicit Behaviour are third, but a long way off second after they beat new boys Hollow End 12-5, with Wafty Crankers doing their chances of survival no harm with a hard fought 9-8 win over Withington FC.
HD FC recovered from last weeks first defeaty of the season, and stay 6 points clear at the top of division 7 after a 15-4 win over Toe Bung Town. Range FC are second after they saw off Offerton FC 13-8, with Toe bung third after they picked up a win from a second game, 13-4 against Buzzin FC. Buzzin didn't have a night to remember as they were also heavily beaten 14-1 by Why Always Us?, who are now just two points off second place.
Hetty have just about wrapped up division 8 with three games to go (probably about the only thing they have in common with FC Manchester!), after they inflicted a second straight heavy defeat on new boys Reds FC, the match finishing 17-3. Inter Minan stay second, despite a 17-10 defeat to new boys FC Wythenshawe, who have picked up two wins and scored 45 goals in the process, 20 of them from Ben Drabble (the 'Van Persie' of our Sunday league, division 8.......!), they have described themselves as 'the team to fear in division 8' with their team made up of a Joe Hart, a Vincent Kompany, a Yaya Toure and a Carlos Tevez (is that a good thing?!). We think they might be City fans (or at least the person who told us this is.). Deportivo Lack Of Talent move up to third after a 6-2 win over Edgeley FC, who drop to fourth, though they did then lose a second game to the divisional leaders Hetty 13-5.
