Right, apparently we owe our Monday teams two weeks worth of league updates, so here goes..........
JLC are one game away from completing a perfect season after two more wins in the last couple of weeks. They were 8-5 winners over Don't Messi With Us last week, and 12-3 winners over Teds Tank Tops last night. Portugal U21's will finish second after they also picked up a pair of victories, 14-1 over Teds and 11-6 against Kersal Massive, who will finish third. Navy Seals, Don't Messi and Teds are all separated by just one point going into the last week, with Navy Seals having jumped into 4th after a forfeit win last week and a 12-8 win over Don't Messi this week.
FC Bram Side confirmed their status as division 2 champions after they won their two games, while second placed Woodhouse Park were beaten last night. Bram Side beat Brother Mouzone 8-5 last week, and Fakerbatche 12-8 last night, and move four points clear with one game to play. Woodhouse ended a poor run of form by beating Manchester FC 17-15 last week, but lost 6-5 to Phantom Brazillians last night. They will go up in second place. Vulcans look likely to finish third after a pair of wins, 8-4 over Fakerbatche and 10-3 against Manchester FC. New team Rothwell and Thomas look quite at home in division 2 after beating Phantom Brazillians last week.
Trafford have division 3 sown up, leading the way by 9 points with one to play. They picked up wins over Kentucky FC and Team Anne Owen in the past two weeks. The real fight in this division is for second place, with Highlanders and The Lads level on points going into the last week. Highlanders looked to have it all wrapped up after beating The Lads 17-7 last week, but a 19-7 defeat to Share Bears last night, plus The Lads 6-4 win over Kentucky means it's game on again. Team Anne Owen, Share Bears and Nameless are level on 16 points, with Nameless picking up two wins to ensure they will not be slipping through the trap door. Reeds Rains and Kentucky will be playing at a lower level next season after they both lost both of their games in this past fortnight.
Division 4 is also done and dusted, with Republic Of Mancunia picking up the honours before a ball was even kicked last night. Their 6-4 win over Stretford Enders handed them the title, meaning last nights 9-6 defeat by Real Madras was of little consequence to them. Madras can be happy with their fortnights work, as they also beat Cereal Killers 13-8 last week and will finish in a respectable mid table position despite only joining a few weeks ago. Cereal Killers are now struggling to hold onto third place as they also lost 10-8 to Real Murillos last night, which ended any hopes they had of promotion for this season. Any one from three teams will be joining Marc Overmars Tribute Band in division 5 next season, with Stretford Enders looking most likely as they have lost their last two to sit second from bottom. If they can beat Overmars next week they have a chance of survival. Reddish Villa would need to suffer a heavy defeat in their final game to have any concerns about going down, after they picked up a vital 9-5 win last night.
Not A Chance and CG And Co are on the up, with Not A Chance picking up the title despite a 9-6 defeat to CG last night. Athletico Porno remain favourites to finish third despite losing 11-5 to fourth placed Tameside Villa. Untitled picked up a win, 6-5 over Bredbury Gypos yesterday, to give themselves a chance of not finishing bottom, though they will need to pick up points from CG next week to do that. Stripes stay second bottom, but only as a result of picking up a forfeit win to go alongside their 13-1 defeat to Innspired Solutions, who ensure they will not be finishing bottom with that result.
It's the last game of the Monday league season NEXT WEEK, meaning the new Monday league kicks off on 7th November. Currently only two spaces are available for the new league, so get in early by giving us a call on 01614429988 or email stockport@powerleague.co.uk for details.
