Its everyone’s favourite time of the week, Lucozade Powerleague Bolton’s League Night Reviews
Sunday Night
Sunday night league is a nice tight league with several teams all within a win of each other. Top of the table sits FC Ballbag having won a impressive 4 out of 4, but not to be out done Flickston Rovers are only one place below on goal difference. Tonight’s feature game is between Flickston Rovers & 7 Brothers 7 Mothers.
This was a close game through out as 7 Brothers 7 Mothers look to rack up some much needed points and move up the table.
Both teams were slow to start with both teams not being able to control procession and making silly mistakes. Fist to step up their game was high flying Flickston Rovers who with some very impressive passing took an early lead. This was a start of things to come as Flickston soon built up a very healthy lead. In the second half 7 Brothers 7 Mothers came out fighting and took the game to Flickston however Flickstons first half domination carried them through to a 13-8 win.
Monday Night
Our Monday night focus game is between FC Athletico (once king of the Sunday league) and Bulls Head.
This was a very entertaining game to watch as both teams gave it 110% all the way. For the neutral fan this was one not to miss.
The game started fast with both teams coming out of the blocks straight away & scoring very quick goals.
As the first half progressed the game slowed down with both teams just trying to keep possession and keep the lead. The second half was much different to the first with both teams going end to end scoring then cancelling each other out. It kept like this all the way to the end with the game ending in a 7-7 draw.
Tuesday Night
On Tuesday night we saw Standard Liege end a recent run of bad form with a very impressive win over bottom of the table Dogfish.
From the first whistle Standard Liege dominated this game in all areas of the pitch from a solid defence through to an accurate striker. It wasn’t long before Standard Liege had opened up a commanding lead. In the second half Dogfish did (and to their credit) mount a mini come back scoring some very nice goals, however the damage was already done and the game finished 15-5 to Standard Liege.
Wednesday Night
First game of the new season tonight and we also welcomed some new teams to the night (Weaveability, Castle FC,
Tonight feature game is between one of our new teams Castle FC and Beehive FC.
This game was a bit of unknown as Castle are a new team, however after this impressive performance everyone will remember them.
Within the first 5 minutes Castle Fc looked the more dominant side, winning all the tackles and really taking the game to Beehive who had no answers for Castles play. At half time Castle had opened up an untouchable lead which in the second half they added to. Beehive did score a couple late goals but it was in vain as the game was already in the bag for Castle. Final score an impressive 21-8 to Castle FC.
Thursday Night
Tonight’s main game is the “Great Collapse” of Nott Athletic v Wilson FC. This game was a joy to watch with some amazing goals scored from both teams, especially a wonder goal from Jonny Burke. The game was end to end with both teams scoring goals left, right and centre. At half time the game was separated by just 3 goals and it kept like this until 7 minutes from time when a dark cloud descended over Nott Athletic and the team forgot how to defend. This allowed
